Manchester United decided to make a change after their disappointing start to the season and showed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the Old Trafford exit door after the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford. Since then, they have announced Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager till the end of the season, after which he will take a consultancy role with the club for two years. Naturally, there is a lot of interest around the move.

Rangnick is one of the most influential figures in modern football management. He shaped the idea of Gegenpressing and popularised zonal marking, while also influencing some of the best managers in the world right now.

There was a belief that Rangnick might not have a significant budget to spend in January after the huge summer transfer window that Manchester United had, signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton.

But now, that does not look like the case. As reported by the Mirror, Rangnick will have a £100 million transfer kitty at his disposal in January. Amadou Haidara and Christopher Nkunku are two players on his radar after impressing in the Bundesliga.

Both Haidara and Nkunku play for Rangnick’s former club RB Leipzig and both of them have impressed massively for the Bundesliga side.

Nkunku has been one of the standout performers in the entire Bundesliga this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 20 appearances for RB Leipzig this season. And he has put in stunning performers in both Germany as well as the Champions League.

On the other hand, Manchester United could do with more options in the middle of the park. And Haidara could be a very good signing for them. The 23-year-old has been a regular in the RB Leipzig team for a while now and has caught the eye with his performances.
