Manchester United finally decided to make a change after the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford left them sitting at eighth in the Premier League table. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was shown the Old Trafford exit door and Michael Carrick is now in charge of the team, until they end up finding an interim manager till the end of the season. It is after that the Red Devils are expected to look for a long-term solution.
The approach might be a bit unexpected but nothing new. And it will be interesting to see who they end up bringing in as the interim manager.
But as we all know, things can change very quickly in football and if the right option ends up becoming available, Manchester United might make a long-term appointment earlier than that. There is some very interesting news surrounding Mauricio Pochettino in that regard.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Pochettino would be prepared to quit Paris Saint-Germain now and is ready to answer Manchester United’s call if they want him to replace Solskjaer. It is believed that that the Argentine manager is unhappy in the French capital.
Manchester United have received huge Pochettino boost
At Paris Saint-Germain, Pochettino has one of the best squads in world football, that was expected to dominate both French and European football this season. That has not been the case though.
In fact, the French giants have had to grind out results much more often than they would have expected at the start of the season. They sit at the top of the Ligue 1 table but are in a sticky situation in their Champions League group.
Naturally questions have been asked about Pochettino’s future. And it does feel like there is a possibility that he could end up being shown the Paris Saint-Germain exit door if their performances don’t improve.
Thus, there could be an opportunity for Manchester United to make a move for Pochettino earlier than anybody expects.
