Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has departed Manchester United after a disappointing start to the 2021/22 campaign, which sees the Red Devils sitting at eighth in the Premier League table and already out of the League Cup. That means that the Old Trafford managerial hot seat is empty right now and the club have certainly decided to take an interesting approach to things. Michael Carrick will be taking charge until they appoint an interim manager till the end of the season.

That means that they will make a long-term change next summer and go with an interim manager till then.

As a result, it does feel like the club are now preparing for another complete reset. And it will be interesting to see who they end up going for, when they do make a long-term appointment. Sir Alex Ferguson seems to have his choice when it comes to the next Manchester United manager.

As tweeted out by Ian Abrahams, Sir Alex wants Mauricio Pochettino to be Manchester United’s next manager. He thinks that Zinedine Zidane will go to Paris Saint-Germain, making that move possible.

Sir Alex wants Pochettino to be the next Manchester United manager

Pochettino has been linked with the Manchester United job for years, going as far back as when he was the Tottenham Hotspur manager, but it has never transpired.

There is no doubt that he is a very good manager and finds himself at PSG at the moment but questions have been raised about his future as well.

PSG were expected to dominate both French and European football this season after the summer transfer window that they enjoyed but that has not been the case till now. In fact, they have had to grind out results much more often than you would expect them to do.

As a result, if Pochettino is shown the PSG exit door anytime in the near future, it could open up an opportunity for Manchester United.
