Things went from bad to worse for Manchester United as they suffered a convincing 4-1 defeat against Watford, who had been 17th at the start of this game week. And while the Red Devils were considered as Premier League title contenders not too long ago, now, it looks like their focus should be on getting back in the top four race.

Even despite their bad run of form, most fans would have expected the Watford game to be one from which the Red Devils could take all three points.

We all know that there are no easy games in the Premier League, but this one proved to be more difficult than anyone could have expected. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s were completely outplayed and to be honest, Watford could have scored more than the four goals that they did.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, internal talks are now ongoing at Manchester United to discuss Solskjaer’s position. A part of the board or officials are believed to be pushing for him to be shown the exit door immediately and it is a serious possibility now.

Solskjaer’s Manchester United future now completely up in the air

Solskjaer was already believed to be walking the managerial tightrope before entering the Watford game. Now, it remains to be seen what impact this result has on his future in the Old Trafford managerial hot seat.

The club have done well to back the manager till now although there have been multiple points over the years when they could have decided to part ways with the Norwegian. And it is not hard to see why they have been reluctant to make a change.

He has never felt closer to the exit door than he does now though. Could the game against Watford be the final time that we see him in the Manchester United dugout?
