A number of Manchester United players could be headed out of the exit door in the upcoming January transfer window. The two names which have been brought up very frequently in this regard are that of Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard, neither of whom have got a lot of chances this season. But it looks like there is another player at Old Trafford, who finds himself in a similar situation.

Diogo Dalot was signed from FC Porto in the summer of 2018, when Jose Mourinho was at Manchester United. The Portuguese manager would be shown the exit door a few months later though and since then, the full-back has found opportunities hard to come by.

He was sent out on a season-month loan spell to AC Milan last season, where he did make an impression, showing his ability at both right-back and left-back. Thus, a permanent move back was rumoured but it ultimately didn’t materialise and he ended up staying at Old Trafford this season.

While expectations were high, he has not gotten a lot of playing time this time around either. And thus, he is another player being linked with a move away in the upcoming January transfer window.

Dalot could be closing in on a Manchester United exit in January

As reported by Calciomercato (via Roma Press), Dalot has already agreed to a move to AS Roma in January. However, the deal still depends on Manchester United.

It is not hard to see why AS Roma might be interested in Dalot and it is believed that they have been keeping tabs on the Portugal international for a while now. Should a deal happen, the full-back would complete a reunion with Mourinho, who is currently the manager of the Serie A side.

A versatile player capable of playing in multiple positions, Dalot has experience of playing in the Serie A as well. But Manchester United would need to sign a replacement before they can let him leave, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka does not have much cover in the right-back position.
