The Manchester United managerial situation has been one of the biggest topics of discussion in world football for quite some time now, and perhaps rightfully so. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been the club’s manager for almost three years but finds himself in a sticky situation, after they have made a disappointing start to the season and find themselves sitting at sixth in the Premier League table and already out of the League Cup.

If things don’t improve quickly, it is very possible that Manchester United will have no other choice but to part ways with Solskjaer and make a change in the managerial hot seat.

As a result, they should keep their eyes on managers who can be potential replacements for Solskjaer and it looks like there are two that the club are particularly interested in.

It looks like Antonio Conte was never a realistic target for the Glazers. The club want a manager to continue their ‘cultural reboot’ and that has narrowed the search down to two names – Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers. As reported by the Express, Duncan Castles said on The Transfer Window Podcast:

"“I can see why the Glazers are looking at the possibility that Pochettino might become available at some point during this season.“Another name very prominent is Brendan Rodgers, who has a profile in terms of the kind of football he plays and development of youth that would appeal and fit with that cultural reboot idea and is interested in moving from Leicester at some point in the not too distant future to one of the top clubs in England.”"

Manchester United appear to be interested in two managers

It is safe to say that both Rodgers and Pochettino are more than capable of doing a job at Manchester United. Both of them have solid Premier League experience as well as that of managing big clubs.

Pochettino is the current manager of Paris Saint-Germain, where winning the Ligue 1 is almost like an expectation and Champions League the goal. On the other hand, Rodgers almost guided Liverpool to the Premier League title several years back while he was also at Celtic, where there is an expectation to win almost every domestic game.

For the time being though, Solskjaer is the man in the Manchester United managerial hot seat and it remains to be seen if he can turn the season around after the international break.
