One of the most influential managers of his generation, Ralf Rangnick has been heavily linked with the Manchester United managerial job in recent weeks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future up in the air. Currently the Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow, it looks like it will be very difficult to bring the German manager to Old Trafford though as he has a huge demand.

Rangnick helped shape Gegenpressing, a philosophy that has become one of the most successful in modern football. And he is believed to have had an influence on managers like Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, just to name a few.

His own managerial career has not been as glittering as some of those that he has influenced but he has made a positive impact at most places that he has been. Schalke 04, RB Leipzig, Hannover 96, VfB Stuttgart and 1899 Hoffenheim are some of the notable clubs that he has managed.

He has been linked with an interim role with Manchester United in recent times, in case the club decided to part ways with Solskjaer. But as reported by the Express, Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel:

"“It’s not easy because he wants the full power on everything.“It’s not just the technical point, the system or these kinds of things.“He wants to decide on everything at the club and this is why Ralf Rangnick isn’t so easy for Manchester United.”"

Rangnick has huge demand if he is to become Manchester United manager

It feels unlikely that Rangnick will become the next Manchester United manager considering this, although it is believed that he is interested in the role.

There are several other managers who have been linked with an Old Trafford move in recent times though. Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are just some of the names that have been floated around.

But for the time being, Solskjaer remains the Manchester United manager and the best case scenario for the club who involve the Norwegian turning the season around after the international break. They have stuck with him till now, but if things don’t improve soon, the club might have very little choice but to make a change.
