Cristiano Ronaldo was welcomed back to Manchester United with open arms in the summer, returning over a decade after he had left to join Real Madrid and since then, he had established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Now 36 years of age, there were many questions though whether he could get it done in the Premier League.

His performances since returning to Manchester United have suggested that he definitely can. He has been one of the bright lights for the club this season, as they have struggled badly.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ronaldo has scored 9 goals and provided an assist in 12 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions this season.

But unfortunately, the team’s results have not been great and they find themselves sitting at sixth in the Premier League table right now. And as reported by the Express, if Manchester United end up in the Europa League next season, it is not entirely out of the question that Ronaldo could try to leave the club at the end of the season.

Could Ronaldo want to leave Manchester United again?

This is more a theory than anything else at this point of time, but if Manchester United failed to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, it would be understandable if Ronaldo tried to leave the club at the end of the season.

He would be 37 years of age at that point of time, and despite how great he still is, one would have to think that the Portuguese superstar is in the last few years of his career and will only get a few more opportunities to win another Champions League title.

That is still a long way to go though and a lot could change between now and the end of the season. Manchester United might end up winning the Champions League themselves. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
