Manchester United were impressed by potential Solskjaer replacement
For the time being, it looks like Manchester United will stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s manager despite their disappointing start to the season. At the moment, the Red Devils find themselves sitting at sixth in the Premier League table, are already out of the League Cup but are in a strong position in their Champions League group.
There is no doubting the fact that Manchester United have one of the best squads in world football right now and definitely have the talent to turn their season around.
But if it does not happen soon, the Red Devils might have no other choice but to show Solskjaer the exit door and make a change in the managerial hot seat.
As reported by ESPN, the club’s preference is to stick with Solskjaer until at least the end of the season but that position could change if a top four spot looks like slipping away. Ralf Rangnick, who is considered as a viable short-term option, is believed to have impressed Ed Woodward during informal meetings in the past.
Could Manchester United end up making a move for Rangnick in the future?
Rangnick is one of the most influential managers in modern football. The German is believed to have been an influence on the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann and others.
His own managerial career might not have been as impressive as some of those that he has influenced but it is safe to say that Rangnick has made a positive impact at most clubs that he has been at till now and if Manchester United did decide to bring in an interim manager in the future, Rangnick is an option that they should definitely consider.
There have been rumours though that Rangnick could want a football position at the club after his interim spell comes to an end, which could be a worry.
