Mauricio Pochettino is someone who has been linked with the Manchester United job for years, as far back as when he was the manager of Tottenham Hotspur. They were rumours about a potential Old Trafford move several times after he left the Lilywhites as well, but a move never quite happened. Now, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future up in the air, those rumours have emerged once again.

Pochettino is currently the manager of Paris Saint-Germain. And while he has not been with the French giants for a long time, questions are already being asked about his future.

The Argentine has not been able to get the best out of the trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar till now. And many have questioned Paris Saint-Germain’s style of play as well, considering the amount of talent that they have going forward.

On the other hand, one potential idea that has been floated surrounding Manchester United recently is bringing in Ralf Rangnick as an interim manager and then making a long-term appointment in the summer. There might be a worry in that approach as well though, especially regarding a potential approach for Pochettino in the future.

As reported by Independent, Rangnick would be interested in an interim role at Manchester United but he would also want some kind of football position afterwards. This may complicate any future managerial appointment though. Pochettino would not be that interested in working under the German.

Thus, it is safe to say that Manchester United find themselves in a sticky situation when it comes to how they can navigate through this situation.

At the moment, Solskjaer remains the manager of the club and it is very possible that the club might end up sticking with the Norwegian till the end of the campaign before making a change.

Of course, the best case scenario will involve Solskjaer getting the season back on track and get Manchester United back in the title race.
