There was a sense of optimism surrounding Manchester United in the summer. While the club had not won a trophy last season, they had finished second in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final on penalties. And after adding the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to their squad, many believed that the Red Devils were ready to challenge in both England and Europe.
It is safe to say that a few months later, there is not much optimism left at Old Trafford. The club have made a disappointing start to the campaign which sees them sit at sixth in the Premier League and they are already out of the League Cup as well.
They are in a strong position in the Champions League but that is mostly due to the brilliance of Ronaldo and David de Gea. If things had gone a bit differently, they could have easily lost all four of their group matches till now.
And it looks like the atmosphere in the dressing room is not great at the moment either, which will be a huge cause of worry for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Huge Manchester United dressing room claims emerge
As reported by the Daily Mail, Bruno Fernandes is among the senior players who feel they are not getting enough direction from Solskjaer and his coaching staff. On the other hand, Ronaldo is believed to be alarmed at the drop in standards at Manchester United since he left. The players also sympathise with Donny van de Beek.
Manchester United have given Solskjaer every chance to succeed till now but it is safe to say that if things don’t improve quickly, they might have very little choice but to make a change in the near future.
A lot of managers are being linked with the club at the moment including Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and others.
