Antonio Conte was one of the managers heavily linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future has been up in the air for a while after a difficult start to the season. Many believed that the Italian could be the perfect manager for the Red Devils, with his incredible track record of turning teams around and guiding them to titles.

Over his past seven seasons as manager, Conte has won five league titles, with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. And what is most impressive is the fact that none of those sides were favourites when he took over.

Manchester United are a team in need of turning around at the moment, sitting at sixth in the Premier League table. But it won’t be Conte attempting to do it, as he is now the Tottenham Hotspur manager.

As reported by the Mirror, Conte “waited until the last minute” to see if Manchester United would part ways with Solskjaer before taking the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Conte waited for the Manchester United job

It was always believed that Conte was interested in the Manchester United job. But despite a disappointing start to the campaign, the club have decided to stick with Solskjaer, who signed a new contract with the Red Devils not too long ago.

There were rumours that suggested that Manchester United had doubts about Conte and did not believe he would be a long-term manager. And to be honest, he has not managed any club for a long time despite his considerable success at multiple places.

With Conte no longer available, Manchester United have been linked with several other managers as potential replacements for Solskjaer if the club do decide to make a change in the managerial hot seat in the near future, which they might have to if results don’t improve soon.
