Legendary manager is interested in Manchester United job
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Manchester United is very much up in the air at the moment. After being handed a 5-0 defeat by Liverpool, the dominant 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur had provided hope that the Norwegian manager had been able to bring the Red Devils back on track. But after a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, questions will be raised about his future at Old Trafford once again.
As a result, several managers have been linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks. Antonio Conte, who was one of the most heavily linked with the club has become the manager of Tottenham Hotspur already. But the names of Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag and a few others are still being floated around as possible options.
Amidst all this, it looks like there is a legendary German manager, who is interested in the Manchester United job.
That man is Ralf Rangnick. Christian Falk tweeted out:
Rangnick is reportedly interested in the Manchester United job
Rangnick might not have won a lot of trophies during the course of his career or managed at the biggest clubs in Europe, but he is legendary for his contributions and the influence that his style has had on the modern game.
He helped to shape Gegenpressing and it is his sides which popularised zonal marking. He is believed to have been an influence on managers like Thomas Tuchel, Jurgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann. That’s a who’s who of modern day football management.
Thus, someone like him could certainly be a very interesting option to consider if Manchester United did end up making a change in the managerial hot seat in the near future.
For the time being though, it looks like Solskjaer will remain the manager of the club although as we know, things can change very quickly in football.
