Manchester United had been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho for years before they finally managed to pull it off this summer. It is clear that he was welcomed to Old Trafford with open arms and was expected to be a big part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team moving forward.
It is safe to say that Sancho would not have envisioned the start that he has had to life at the Theatre of Dreams. We are set to enter the month of November and he is yet to register a goal or an assist for the Red Devils.
And recently he has found himself on the bench quite often. In fact, he was not even brought on as a substitute in the games against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
And Gary Neville has sent a warning to Sancho and believes he could find himself in a similar situation to Donny van de Beek in the future. As reported by The Sun, the Manchester United legend said:
"“Do you know something, I can help but think about Van de Beek.“Who’s put the name on him, who is sponsoring him at Manchester United, that kid who has sat in the stands and not kicked a football.“Sancho if he’s not careful, is going to end up exactly the same.”"
Neville added further:
"“He must be sitting on the bench thinking ‘what am I doing, I’m not going to play in this system.’“Because I don’t see him in the two in midfield or the two upfront, so he’s thinking where does my career go at Manchester United and Van de Beek is thinking the same.“Today has been a good day but it does cause problems elsewhere.”"
Sancho has not managed to find his feet at Manchester United till now
The new system that Solskjaer used against Tottenham Hotspur will be a worry for the English international as well, as there were no wingers on the pitch.
And considering that they managed to come out with a 3-0 win, the manager could decide to stick with it moving forward.
If that turns out to be the case, then the only area that Sancho might feature in is the two-man frontline. But then, competition is expected to be tough there, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial also expected to compete for those spots.
It is safe to say that there are quite a few worries surrounding Sancho at this point of time and one can only hope that he can find his feet at Old Trafford as soon as possible and start contributing to this Manchester United team.
