Antonio Conte has been linked with the Manchester United job in recent times with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford appearing to be up in the air at the moment. It is clear that the Norwegian manager has to turn things around as soon as possible or he could be shown the exit door after a very disappointing start to the campaign, which has included a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford.

It is not difficult to see why Conte is being linked with the Manchester United job. He is one of the best managers in world football and is without a club right now, having left Inter Milan in the summer after leading them to the Serie A title last season.

Rumours have also suggested that Conte is very open to joining Manchester United if the opportunity presents itself, even in the middle of the season.

It does appear though that the club have two huge doubts regarding Conte. As reported by ESPN, senior figures at Old Trafford have reservations about his personality and likely demands for significant spending in the transfer market.

Manchester United appear to have doubts regarding Conte

There is very little doubt that Conte is one of the top managers in world football today. And he has brought success almost everywhere that he has been.

Over his last seven seasons, Conte has won five league titles, with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. And even more impressively, none of these sides were favourites when he arrived.

Thus, it is safe to say that if Manchester United managed to appoint him, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of the Red Devils.

But, it is also true that despite his tremendous success, Conte has not spent a long period of time at any club as manager and might not be the right choice if Manchester United are looking for a long-term appointment.
