Manchester United have been linked with several managers in the last few days as potential candidates to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the club, although it looks like the club are going to stick with the Norwegian manager for the time being despite their disappointing start to the season and their recent 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
But that does not mean that a change won’t be made in the future if results don’t improve soon. One of the names that was most heavily linked with a move to Manchester United recently has been that of Antonio Conte.
The Italian is without doubt one of the best managers in world football right now, having won five league titles over his last seven seasons across Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. There have also been suggestions that he would be open to taking over the Manchester United job if the opportunity presented itself.
Conte would be expected to have his demands though and one of them could include bringing in a Inter Milan star to Old Trafford.
Conte could try to bring Inter Milan star to Manchester United
As reported by Inter Live, Conte could try to bring Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij to Manchester United as early as January. He is believed to be rated at around €30 million to €32 million.
But a move in the middle of the season might be almost impossible. Such an offer next summer though could get the deal done.
It must be pointed out that De Vrij was being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as well when there were rumours that Conte could become their manager earlier in the summer.
Of course, it will all depend on whether Manchester United do end up bringing in Conte. For the time being, Solskjaer remains the manager of the club and one can only hope that the Norwegian is able to turn things around soon.
He definitely has his back to the wall at the moment but interestingly, that is when his sides have appeared to be at their best in the past.
