The news is coming thick and fast surrounding the Manchester United managerial situation. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at the club appears to be very much up in the air after their disappointing start to the campaign and the 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford against Liverpool.

It had appeared that some of the pressure had been released from his shoulders after the club’s midweek comeback win against Atalanta but it is safe to say that it is back on and most probably heavier than ever before.

For the past few weeks, it had looked like Manchester United were very much behind the Norwegian but following the defeat against Liverpool, there are suggestions that conversations are going on regarding the manager’s future at the club.

Solskjaer remains the Manchester United manager for the time being and has not been sacked. But it looks like that is not out of the question at this point of time. And if they did end up taking that hard decision, Antonio Conte is their first choice to replace him in the managerial hot seat. Alfredo Pedulla tweeted out:

Conte is Manchester United’s first-choice to replace Solskjaer

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Solskjaer at the club. There have been some suggestions that he could be given a bit more time to turn things around. But if he was to be replaced at any point of time, Conte would be a terrific manager to bring in.

In the past, he has come into difficult situations at multiple clubs and gotten incredible success with them, whether it be Juventus, Chelsea or Inter Milan. And with the squad that Manchester United has, a manager like him could do wonders.

Of course, there are questions whether the current squad is the right fit for the style of football that Conte’s sides are known for playing.
