Manchester United vs Atalanta was definitely a game of two halves, with the Red Devils managing to come out with a 3-2 comeback win after scoring three goals in the second-half. There were a lot of positives to take out from that fixture but quite a few worries as well when you think about the upcoming game against Liverpool in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in tremendous form at the moment and although the game will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester United have a big task on their hands this Sunday.

Paul Scholes did not appear to be too impressed by the performance that Manchester United put in against Atalanta and seemed worried when it comes to the game against Liverpool.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Scholes said:

"“Yes, it’s great seeing the excitement and them attacking. It’s brilliant, but that first half has stuck with me. They’ve come back with great spirit but they conceded so many chances, and if you’re playing against quality players there’s no way you can win that game.“People will get carried away but will he play that way on Sunday? Go and do that on Sunday and see what happens. Jurgen Klopp will be rubbing his hands together.”"

Jurgen Klopp did not agree with the Manchester United legend though and speaking ahead of the match, the Liverpool manager said:

"“I was watching the game and there was not one second where I was rubbing my hands together.”"

Manchester United will have a huge task against Liverpool on Sunday

It is safe to say that Liverpool are in brilliant form this season. After a 2020/21 campaign that saw them struggle badly with multiple injuries, they appear to be back to their best once again and look ready to compete for trophies this season.

In fact, KIopp’s side have not lost a single game this season. Things have been very different for Manchester United though.

After a bright start, they have faded away badly in recent times. Over their last eight games across all competitions, they have lost four times, drawn once and won just thrice. That is not nearly good enough if they are to bring an end to their trophyless streak this time around.

There is no doubt that Manchester United will be the underdogs going into the game against Liverpool on Sunday. But interestingly, that is the role they appear to perform their best in.
