Manchester United managed to come out of the Champions League with a huge result against Atalanta. And it was not just the win that was vital but the manner of the win as well. At half-time, it had looked like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were completely down and out with the Italian side going into the break with a 2-0 lead.

But the Red Devils managed to turn it around in the second-half. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo completed an incredible comeback for the club.

One of the biggest boosts for Manchester United in recent weeks has been the return of Rashford from injury. He had not featured this season after undergoing a surgery following EURO 2020 but has scored in both games since returning to the pitch.

One worry though was that he was forced off the pitch against Atalanta. With the game against Liverpool coming up, it could have turned out to be a huge worry for the club. But it appears that he will be ready for the game. While speaking with Manchester United’s official website, when asked whether he would be ready for the big game, Solskjaer said:

"“I don’t know. I hope so and I think so.“It was a dead leg and sometimes it can take longer than what you want. But if we treat it well, he should be okay.”"

Manchester United handed Rashford injury boost ahead of Liverpool game

The upcoming game against Liverpool will be huge for Manchester United. There is no question that the win against Atalanta was very important but a defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s side will almost send them one step back again.

What Manchester United need to do right now is go on a good run of results. The Atalanta game was certainly a great starting point but now they need to build on that momentum.

They are just entering one of the toughest phases of their season. Thus, it is a massive boost that Rashford did not suffer a long-term injury last night cause he has already proven how vital he is to this side over just the past two games.
