Coming into the game with Atalanta, there was a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United’s disappointing start to the campaign. The Red Devils had lost four of their previous seven games across all competitions and needed a win badly.

Things looked worrying early on as Atalanta took a 2-0 lead within the the half hour mark and went into the break with that lead intact. An incredible performance from the players in the second-half turned things completely around though as goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo handed Manchester United a 3-2 win.

Solskjaer must have been the most relieved man at Old Trafford on the night and quite a bit of pressure was definitely taken off his shoulders. But Arsene Wenger has warned the manager that it will be back soon and he needs two or three good results moving forward.

As reported by Metro, the Arsenal legend told beIN SPORTS:

"‘He was under huge pressure and he got away with it and he’s relieved. I can feel how he feels.‘Enjoy the night, do the press conference, have a nice dinner with friends and enjoy the night. Tomorrow it starts again, you have a big game in front of you and the worry starts again.‘The impatience with public and fans around Man United is becoming bigger and very quickly this season. That was not the case before, so it’s the first time he faces that situation.‘This win tonight is important for him. If he can add another result he can have some peace again. But you need, when you’re under that kind of pressure, to get two or three results to get peace again around you. That’s very important in this job.’"

Manchester United need to build on the momentum from the Atalanta game

Wenger is definitely correct in saying that Manchester United need a few more good results before the pressure is off Solskjaer.

Even against Villarreal we saw them pull off a massive win before a draw and a defeat in the next two games meant that they were back to square one once again. They cannot afford to do that this time around as well.

Fortunately, this is not the first time during his stint as Manchester United manager that Solskjaer has his back against the wall. It has happened several times in the past and interestingly, that is when the side appears to find their best form.

Even last season, we saw the club make a poor start to the campaign before going on a brilliant run of form. Hopefully, they can do the same this time around as well.
