Manchester United transfer blow for Inter Milan superstar

Manchester United have one of the deepest and best squads in world football at the moment. There is no question about that. Other than defensive midfield, they have multiple brilliant options in every position. And yet, their start to the campaign has left a lot to be desired as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side currently find themselves only sixth in the Premier League table.

One of their biggest worries recently has been finding the back of the net. At striker, Manchester United have legendary options in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani while Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood can play there as well.

But things have just not clicked yet. And with Ronaldo being 36 years of age and Cavani being 34, it is no surprise that the Red Devils are being linked with a long-term solution up top for the next summer transfer window.

A number of players have been linked with the club. Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is one of them. But Manchester United’s hopes of signing the Argentine superstar have been handed a massive blow.

Martinez has been one of the standout players in Serie A for a few years now and was a massive part of Inter Milan’s title winning campaign in 2020/21.

And as tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan will announce a  new 5-year deal for Martinez soon.

As a result, signing the Argentine striker will become even more difficult for Manchester United, especially with Romelu Lukaku having left the Italian giants in the summer.

Martinez is not the only player who has been linked with Manchester United with regards to a move next summer though. The names of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Dusan Vlahovic and several others have been brought up as potential signings as well. Now, it remains to be seen how things turn out.
