Dani Alves makes huge claim about Manchester United star

One of the greatest players of his generation and the most decorated in history, Dani Alves was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United at one point of time. Of course, that never quite materialised. His recent comments about one player though will certainly be of some interest to the fans.

That player is Fred. The Brazilian midfielder has often been criticised for his performances for Manchester United in recent times.

There was a period of time last season when he looked absolutely brilliant but has not been able to keep up that kind of form since then. And many view him as a weakness in this team. Not in the eyes of Dani Alves though.

Alves appears to be a big fan of Fred and believes the problem lies with the club or the coach, and not the player. As reported by The Sun, the Brazilian legend said:

"“I hear so many people complaining about Fred. But when he plays for Brazil he is better than all of their midfielders.“The problem is the club or coach, not Fred.”"

It is safe to say that Fred’s performances for Manchester Untied have left a bit to be desired. But is it because he is playing in a role that does not suit him well?

Even in the recent games for Brazil, Fred was very impressive and looked like a completely different player.

And to be honest, he plays a very important role in this Manchester United team as well. What he does might not be flashy but it is important and we saw the team concede 4 goals in his absence against Leicester City this weekend.

Fred is expected to continue playing a big role in this Manchester United team moving forward. And one can only hope that he can rediscover his best form once again. On the top of his game, he has already shown that he is a top midfielder. He just needs to produce that kind of football consistently.
