Manchester United cannot ignore Cristiano Ronaldo worry any longer

Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United in the summer was met with celebration from the club’s fans. The results since then though have left a lot to be desired.

In the seven games that Ronaldo has featured in since his return to Old Trafford, the club have won thrice, lost thrice and drawn once. And it very much looks like this team has not quite gelled with Ronaldo playing at striker.

It was in the game against Everton that Edinson Cavani started up front while Ronaldo was given a rest and Manchester United looked much more fluid going forward.

When someone like Ronaldo is in your squad, you almost have to start him. And he has already proven that he still remains a spectacular goalscorer. Thus, he is expected to be the club’s first-choice striker moving forward.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to find the right system to fit the Portuguese superstar into this side because at the moment, it does not seem to be working well at all.

Harry Maguire’s return from injury came a bit too early

Coming into the game, almost nobody expected Maguire to start against his former side today. He had been out of action for a few weeks now with an injury and while it had looked like he was moving in the right direction in terms of recovery, his return was believed to be still a little bit away.

Thus, it was quite a surprise to see his name on the team sheet against Leicester City and the Manchester United captain did look quite rusty during the game.

It does feel like his return to the playing team came a bit too early and the Red Devils perhaps would have been better placed if Eric Bailly had started alongside Victor Lindelof on this occasion.
