Manchester United have had terrible luck this season when it comes to injuries. There are many who are on the sidelines at the moment, still recovering. Thus, it just goes on to show the incredible depth of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad that he has been able to navigate through all of this quite well in terms of putting out a playing XI on the pitch. Of course, the recent results have left quite a lot to be desired.

It does not look like Manchester United’s injury problems are getting any better though and they look set to miss another one of their most important players for the next few weeks.

Raphael Varane was forced off the pitch while representing the France national team in the UEFA Nations League Final against Spain. He appeared to pull up while running and was substituted off just before half-time. The club have now confirmed the nature of the injury and how much time he will be out of action for.

As reported by Manchester United’s official website, the club released a statement reading:

"“Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club.“He will be out for a few weeks.”"

Varane confirmed to miss Manchester United’s upcoming game against Leicester City

It is safe to say that this is a massive injury blow for Manchester United. Varane arrived from Real Madrid in the summer and has quickly established himself as a regular in Solskjaer’s starting XI.

The injury also could not have come at a worse possible time. Manchester United are entering what could very possibly be the toughest phase of their season. Over the next 6 games, they will face Atalanta twice, Leicester City, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Thus, it will be interesting to see at what point of time, Varane returns to action. With the game against the Foxes just days away though, he is certain to miss that one.

One can only hope that Varane is able to recover and is back on the pitch as soon as possible. The fact that Harry Maguire has been out of action for the past few weeks is a worry for Manchester United as well as they could now possibly be without two of their first-choice centre-backs.
