Manchester United have one of the best and most high-profile squads in all of football right now. The Red Devils just added names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to their squad in the same summer transfer window.

Now though, the focus must shift towards keeping those who are already at the club. And one man whose Manchester United future is up in the air at the moment is Paul Pogba.

The French midfield maestro’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in the summer of 2022. And it appears that all options are open at the moment with regards to his future, with some even suggesting that a return to Juventus might be on the cards. That will be difficult though.

As reported by both Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Pogba is an option but one that Juventus cannot afford at this point of time. The Frenchman would have to significantly reduce his wages if he was to return to the Italian giants next summer.

Manchester United want to keep Pogba at Old Trafford

Pogba has departed Old Trafford in the past to join Juventus on a free transfer. Of course, that happened back in the summer of 2012 when he was a teenager.

At Juventus, he would go on to establish himself as one of the most exciting players in all of Europe before sealing a return to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 in a then world-record transfer move.

Could history be about to repeat itself once again with Pogba walking out of Old Trafford as a free agent to join Juventus? It does feel unlikely to be honest.

Some recent rumours have suggested that Pogba is open to staying at Manchester United and extending his contract. But then, he has also been linked with clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in recent times. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the midfielder.
