Ever since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United as manager, the club have made a lot of progress. That is something that cannot be denied even though questions have been raised about whether he is the right man to lead this club back to trophies. It has been four seasons since the club have lifted silverware and they will be under some pressure to bring an end to that streak as soon as possible.
Having signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane in the summer, there were a lot of high expectations coming into this season. It is safe to say that the start has not matched those expectations.
Manchester United currently find themselves in tricky positions in both the Premier League and the Champions League, and already knocked out of this season’s League Cup.
Amidst all this, there is one player who has continued to struggle for minutes on the pitch and that is Donny van de Beek. And it looks like the opinion of the Manchester United coaches and the manager is divided on the Dutch midfielder.
Manchester United coaches disagree with Solskjaer about Van de Beek
As reported by The Athletic (via CaughtOffside), some members of the Manchester United coaching team doubt if Van de Beek is up to the physical challenge of Premier League football although Solskjaer still seems to have hopes for him.
We have already seen the Dutch midfielder undergo a bit of a physical transformation over the course of the summer but chances have still remained hard to come by.
It is arguable that he has been very unlucky in that regard as whenever he has been on the pitch this season, he has managed to impress. But the competition for places is extremely tough at Manchester United at this point of time.
Hopefully, Van de Beek will get more opportunities to prove himself in the future because there is certainly a lot of potential in him.
