Manchester United handed massive Raphael Varane injury blow
Signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer was considered as a major coup for Manchester United. As expected, the French World Cup winner has come in and immediately established himself as a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.
Individually, he has had a pretty good start to life at Manchester United and impressed at the back. As a unit though, the defence has not quite clicked yet but with time, they hopefully will in the future.
The Red Devils have been handed a massive injury blow though surrounding the defender. As reported by Sky Sports, Varane hobbled off the pitch in the 43rd minute after appearing to pull up while running in France’s UEFA Nations League final against Spain.
The fact that Varane could not even continue till half-time and was forced off the pitch will be a worry for Manchester United as they head into one of the most difficult phases of their campaign.
Manchester United handed massive Varane injury blow
It is safe to say that Varane’s injury could not have come at a worse time for Manchester United. Over their next six games, they will face Atalanta twice, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.
It is safe to say that they are not in great form right now in the first place. In the past six games, Solskjaer’s side have lost thrice, won twice and drawn once.
As a result, they are already out of the League Cup, in a tricky position in their Champions League group and have slipped down from first to fourth in the Premier League over the past few weeks.
The upcoming six games could have a huge effect on their 2021/22 season. One can only hope that Varane’s injury is not serious and he will be back on the pitch as soon as possible. Manchester United certainly need him. We would like to wish him the best of luck in his recovery.
