Newcastle United are the buzz of the Premier League at the moment following their takeover. It is expected to send the Magpies straight towards the top of English football, similar to what happened with Manchester City over a decade back. And it looks like they have a Manchester United player on their sights as they aim for a rebuild.
At this point of time, Newcastle United are in the relegation zone and as a result, the club’s rebuild could start as early as this January.
Some big names would be expected to arrive at the club over the upcoming transfer windows in what could change the landscape of English football once again. And Anthony Martial could end up becoming one of their first big signings.
As reported by Stretty News, Newcastle United’s recruitment team have already made contact regarding the possibility of signing Martial from Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window.
Could Martial be set to leave Manchester United in January?
It is safe to say that Martial has not enjoyed a brilliant time at Manchester United recently. After a great 2019/20 campaign that saw him finish as the club’s top scorer for the season, he endured a tough time last season.
So much so that he finished the campaign behind Edinson Cavani in the striker pecking order at Old Trafford. And with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, opportunities are expected to be even tougher to come by this time around.
But would Manchester United be open to letting him go in the middle of the season when the other two options that they have up top are both well over 30 years of age? It is possible if they consider Mason Greenwood as an option at striker as well, and he did do well there earlier in the campaign.
Thus, it will be interesting to see how things unfold over the coming months with regards to Martial’s future at Manchester United.
