There is no denying the fact that Manchester United have one of the deepest and best squads in world football right now. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had already finished second in the Premier League last season and then went on to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton this summer.

The incredible depth in multiple positions though means that there are quite a few players who are playing less amount of football than they should.

Hopefully, over the coming months, they will get more regular minutes in the first-team because at the moment, things are not going as most people would have expected.

Manchester United have won just two of their previous six games across all competitions. Thus, it is clear that Solskjaer needs to change things up a bit moving forward.

3 Manchester United players who deserve to play more

Here are three Manchester United players who deserve to play more regular football moving forward in the 2021/22 campaign:

Edinson Cavani

It is safe to say that Cavani was absolutely brilliant in the second half of the previous campaign. So much so that at one point of time, he was looking like one of the best strikers in world football even at the age of 34.

As a result, most fans would have expected him to be Manchester United’s first choice striker coming into this season. That was before the club pulled off a stunning move for Ronaldo in the summer.

Now, Cavani appears to be the second choice striker in Solskjaer’s side unless the manager decides to switch to a two-man attack moving forward. There is no doubt about the fact that the Uruguayan is still a brilliant player though and deserves to play more football than he has recently.

Jesse Lingard

Lingard has been absolutely superb this year. He was sensational during his loan spell at West Ham United, has scored for the England national team recently and has shown that he can make a difference for Manchester United as well multiple times already after coming off the bench.

Considering the options that the Red Devils have moving forward, it is not a surprise that Lingard has not featured regularly for this side. But when you consider the kind of form that he has been in, Solskjaer should definitely look for ways to play him more often.

Donny van de Beek

When the Dutch midfielder had arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2020, he had come with a lot of expectations. He had already proven himself at Ajax at both domestic and European level, and had featured quite a bit for the Netherlands national team as well.

It is safe to say that things have not gone Van de Beek’s way during his time at Old Trafford though. He failed to make his mark in his first season with the Red Devils and now, he finds himself sitting on the bench more often than not these days.

He has impressed whenever he has come off the bench this season though. And he should definitely get more chances to prove himself, whether it is in the midfield pivot or in attacking midfield.
