It is safe to say that the recent game between Manchester United and Everton was not a memorable one for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. They could only manage a 1-1 draw on the day, falling further behind in the Premier League title race as a result. It was Anthony Martial who scored for the Red Devils before Andros Townsend equalised in the second half. The two sides could not be separated at the end of the 90 minutes and split the points.

Manchester United fans would have been hoping that the side could use their 2-1 win over Villarreal in the Champions League as a platform to bounce back from their recent disappointing results. But that was not to be on Saturday.

One huge decision that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made in Manchester United’s game vs Everton is resting Cristiano Ronaldo, who had scored the dramatic stoppage time winner against Villarreal in midweek. And it does not look like the decision went down well with the Portuguese superstar.

As reported by Express, Ronaldo was angry with the decision to leave him out just days after his winner against Villarreal.

Did the Manchester United manager make the right decision dropping Ronaldo?

At 36 years of age, it is safe to say that Ronaldo is no longer in his prime as a footballer. And while he has made a brilliant start to life at Old Trafford, Solskjaer has to make sure that he does not end up overplaying the Portuguese superstar.

Thus, it is understandable to give him rest from time to time. The game against Everton might not have been the right time to do that though.

Manchester United needed the three points on the day and Everton are looking like a strong team this season. Ronaldo did ultimately end up playing a decent portion of the match though, having come on as a substitute in the 57th minute.
