Manchester United’s start to the season has not been ideal. They are already out of the League Cup, lost their opening game of the Champions League campaign and their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign also came to an end recently. Thus, it is safe to say that they need to turn things around as soon as possible.

This would not have been expected considering how strong the squad is this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had already finished second in the Premier League last season and brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton over the course of the summer.

As a result, they have one of the best squads in world football right now. And there are multiple players who have not gotten a lot of playing time this season till now. One of them is Juan Mata.

And as reported by Manchester Evening News, Mata is considering his Manchester United future and he is understood to be open to leaving the club in the January transfer window unless he figures more regularly.

Mata is open to leaving Manchester United in January

Arriving at Old Trafford in January of 2014, Mata has not been a regular in the starting XI for Manchester United for the majority of his time at the club.

Now 33 years of age, his current deal with the Red Devils is set to run out at the end of this campaign. And he is expected to leave at that point of time, if he does not end up doing so in January itself.

Mata was incredible during his time at Chelsea, helping them to a Champions League and a Europa League title before struggling when Jose Mourinho made a return to the club. Compared to that, he has not had a brilliant time at Manchester United although he has always been a true professional and an important part of the squad.
