Manchester United had a tremendous summer transfer window this time around, signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. As a result, they ticked most of the boxes that any club could want to tick in the span of a single transfer window.

The club brought back one of their greatest players ever in the form of Ronaldo, who is still performing at a very high level. They signed Varane, who is one of the best and most decorated defenders in world football right now. They finally brought Sancho to Old Trafford, a player who they had been linked with for the past few years. And they added some cover between the sticks by signing Heaton, following the departure of Sergio Romero.

If there was one thing that they did not manage to do this summer, it was strengthening in the middle of the park. And that is the only area that they appear to be a bit light on options at the moment.

The club have been linked with several midfielders over the past several months. Two of them are Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham. And when asked which one of the two Manchester United should sign if they could, Gary Neville tweeted out:

Neville believes Manchester United should sign Bellingham ahead of Rice

It is safe to say that both are wonderful young players. While Bellingham has shined for Borussia Dortmund ever since joining them, Rice has become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League already with West Ham United.

One advantage that Bellingham has over Rice though is youth. While the Borussia Dortmund star is still just 18, the West Ham United midfielder is 22. Of course, both of them are very young and have quite a few years on their hands before they reach their primes.

Manchester United would be expected to try and sign a midfielder in the near future. It remains to be seen who that turns out to be. But it must be said that either Bellingham or Rice, would be a brilliant addition.
