Following Louis van Gaal’s departure, Jose Mourinho became the manager of Manchester United in 2016. The Portuguese manager had something to prove, having departed Chelsea for the second time in his career after a bad start to the 2015/16 campaign. He stayed at Old Trafford for a little more than two years before he was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

During his time with the Red Devils, he won a League Cup, a Community Shield, and a UEFA Europa League, and is the last manager to lift silverware with Manchester United.

His stint at the club didn’t turn out as most would’ve expected. Even then, he left his mark in the history of Manchester United by winning some trophies. Now though, it has been four seasons since the Red Devils lifted silverware.

Mourinho is now the manager of AS Roma. They have started the Serie A 2021/22 season brilliantly, winning four of the five games they have played in the domestic league so far. And it looks like he could be the man to take the club back to the top of Italian football. For that to happen though, he might need a few more additions and it appears that the Portuguese legend could have his eyes set on a Manchester United player.

AS Roma linked with Manchester United player

As reported by CalcioMercato, AS Roma are studying the strategy on bringing Diogo Dalot to the club on a loan deal with an option to buy in the upcoming January transfer window.

While the left-back position could be sorted out with the return of Leonardo Spinazzola from injury next year, the right-back position is where AS Roma could be looking to strengthen in moving forward.

It was during Mourinho’s time at Manchester United that Dalot was signed by the club. But currently, he finds himself behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Dalot spent the previous season on loan at AC Milan and enjoyed a decent campaign. It remains to be seen if a stint away from the Theatre of Dreams lies in his future as well.
