After their exciting 2-1 win on Sunday, Manchester United will face West Ham United once again on Wednesday but this time at Old Trafford and in the League Cup. If the last game was anything to go by then this promises to be a close contest that might end up going  either way. As a result, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have to be prepared.

But one must expect quite a bit of rotation as well. At the end of the day, this is going to be a long season and Solskjaer will have to make sure not to play some of the regular starters too much football early on. Otherwise, it could lead to a dip in form latter in the campaign, which the Red Devils must avoid.

One man who made quite an impact on Sunday is Jesse Lingard. He came off the bench to score a brilliant late winner against the club where he spent the second half of last season on loan. And now, he looks set to get a start on Wednesday.

As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said about Lingard:

"“He’ll play, of course, on Wednesday because we will make a few changes.”"

Lingard will get a start for Manchester United against West Ham United

Lingard has been brilliant in recent times. He was absolutely sensational while on loan at West Ham United in the second half of last season. And he has continued his good form this time around as well.

He has come off the bench in the last two Premier League games to score for Manchester United and has found the back of the net for the England national team recently as well. And what was most impressive about the goal against West Ham United was the manner in which he bounced back from midweek, when it was his misplaced pass which had led to Young Boys’ winning goal against the Red Devils in the Champions League.

He is yet to start a game this season though and it will be interesting to see how he does this Wednesday in the League Cup.
