Manchester United star wanted by Inter Milan but there’s one problem

Manchester United have one of the best squads in world football right now with multiple top players competing for every position. As a result, it should not come as a surprise that there are a few players at Old Trafford, who have struggled for first-team minutes. While many departed on loan this summer in search of playing time, some have stayed on.

One player who was heavily linked with a summer exit, especially after the return of Cristiano Ronaldo but is still at Manchester United is Donny van de Beek.

The highly-rated midfielder was signed from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and arrived with a lot of expectations, after a brilliant stint with the Dutch giants. Things have not gone his way since then though and he has struggled to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team.

As reported by L’Interista (via Express), Inter Milan are admirers of Van de Beek but at the moment a move is unlikely as Manchester United’s requests for it to happen do not fall within the parameters of the club.

Could Van de Beek have a future at Manchester United?

At one point of time, the Dutchman was one of the most highly-rated young talents in all of football. Right now though, he is spending significant time sitting on Manchester United’s bench.

While Van de Beek remained at Manchester United beyond this summer. He has not played a lot of football yet this season either.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Van de Beek has made just two appearances this season, playing a combined 51 minutes of football till now.

It is safe to say that the Dutch midfielder would be looking to play much more regularly through the course of the campaign. If he does not, then an Old Trafford departure in the future does feel very likely. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
