Signed from Lille in the summer transfer window of 2019, Nicolas Pepe became the club-record signing for Arsenal. The Gunners are believed to have shelled out a transfer fee around £72 million to secure his services. And although he did not set the Premier League alight immediately after coming in, he is certainly starting to come into his own recently. Interestingly, he has already scored against Manchester United.

That match ended in a 2-0 victory for Arsenal and it was Mikel Arteta’s first win as the manager of the club. He remains the last Arsenal forward to score against Manchester United from open play.

Manchester United and Arsenal currently find themselves in very different positions, with the former sitting near the top of the Premier League table and the latter not even in the top 10 after playing their first five games of the season.

Amid the current worries at Arsenal, the 26-year-old winger is considered one of the bright spots in the team. And he has named a Manchester United player as his toughest opponent.

When asked about his sternest opponent by Prime Video Sport, as reported by Manchester Evening News, Pepe named Aaron Wan-Bissaka:

"“I really enjoy watching him play. I would say Wan-Bissaka. I think he is very strong in both areas.”"

Wan-Bissaka was signed from Crystal Palace by Manchester United in the same transfer window as Nicolas Pepe. He made his competitive debut for the Red Devils in a Premier League game against Chelsea and has gone on to establish himself as the regular starter at right-back since then.

While questions have been raised about him going forward, he is one of the best full-backs in Europe when it comes to the defensive side of things.

While Wan-Bissaka appears to be the first-choice right-back at Old Trafford right now, he does have some very good competition in the form of Diogo Dalot.
