Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat at the hands of Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League in midweek when they face West Ham United in the Premier League. The Red Devils were at the top of the table at the start of the game week but now find themselves at third, with Liverpool and Manchester City ahead of them. Both those sides have played a game more than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side though.
As a result, Manchester United will be hoping to get back to the top of the table once again. But it will certainly not be easy as West Ham United are a team in form at the moment and are coming off of a win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League in midweek. They have also been in good form in the Premier League and are yet to taste defeat.
Thus, this is expected to be a tough game for Solskjaer’s side. But with the squad that they have, they should be confident going in.
One man who has the chance to make some history on the day is Paul Pogba, who could possibly end up breaking a Premier League record currently held by Thierry Henry and Harry Kane.
Pogba can break record when Manchester United face West Ham United
As reported by Manchester Evening News, if Pogba gets another assist this weekend, he will set the record for most assists registered in the opening five games. He already has seven from the first four games, while Thierry Henry in 2004/05 and Harry Kane last season had seven in the first five games.
Thus, Pogba will either have the record to himself or alongside Henry and Kane by the end of the West Ham United game.
It goes without saying that the Frenchman has enjoyed a spectacular start to this campaign and is playing some of the best football of his career right now.
