It is safe to say that the recently concluded summer transfer window was one of the greatest in history. The likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Antoine Griezmann, Romelu Lukaku, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jack Grealish, Memphis Depay and many other top players changed clubs this summer. But it might be very well be Manchester United, who managed to pull off the best move of the transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo completed a stunning return to Manchester United more than a decade after leaving to join Real Madrid back in 2009.

At the time of the move, Ronaldo had already won multiple Premier League titles, a Champions League and the Ballon d’Or. But since then, he has established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

Now back at the Theatre of Dreams, he looks as good as ever and might prove to be the signing of the summer, depending on how this season turns out for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo could have a massive impact on his Manchester United team

It is very possible that someone like Messi could guide Paris Saint-Germain to the UEFA Champions League title or Lukaku could help Chelsea win the Premier League, but at the end of the day, these teams have been winning trophies on a consistent basis for a while.

On the other hand, Manchester United have not won a trophy in four seasons. And someone like Ronaldo can be exactly who they need to take them past the last hurdle.

Ronaldo marked his second debut for Manchester United with a brace against Newcastle United and then found the back of the net against Young Boys as well despite the 2-1 defeat. And it is clear that while he might not be the tricky winger of the past, he is an even better goalscorer now than he was in his first stint at Old Trafford.

He is the the type of player who will score a goal if you give him a chance. And that might be exactly the kind of player Manchester United have been missing for a while.
