Manchester United are coming off of a sensational summer transfer window as they managed to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. It is safe to say that they have one of the strongest squads in the Premier League and should be considered as genuine title contenders this time around.

The only negative coming out of the summer for the Red Devils might be the fact that they did not end up signing a midfielder. The middle of the park is the only area of the pitch where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side might be a bit short on options at the moment.

One player that the club had been heavily linked with over the summer is Eduardo Camavinga. He was in the final year of his contract at Rennes and it was believed that a move to the Theatre of Dreams was a possibility. But ultimately, the French midfielder ended up joining Real Madrid.

Now, Camavinga has revealed why he decided to move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer. As reported by Manchester Evening News, he said:

"“Honestly, the first factor is not money, it is the pleasure of fulfilling a dream I had since I was little.“When I found out that I could sign for Madrid, I didn’t think about it.“The first factor for me was the pleasure of fulfilling the dream of playing for Real Madrid, playing with footballers who are going to teach me a lot.”"

Camavinga could have been a great signing for Manchester United

Camavinga is one of the most highly-rated young talents in world football right now. Still just 18 years of age, he had already been a regular in Rennes’ first-team for a couple of seasons before moving to Real Madrid.

Camavinga has also represented the France national team on a few occasions and many believe he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in world football in the near future. Thus, it is no surprise that Real Madrid decided to make a move for him.

Also, it must be said that he could have been a great signing for Manchester United. Now, it looks like their search for a central midfielder is set to continue over the coming transfer windows.
