Things are looking up for Manchester United at this point of time. The club finished second in the Premier League and as runners up in the Europa League last season, and following the additions of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton this summer, the Red Devils must be considered as one of the favourites for the title this time around.
On paper, the squad looks strong enough to compete for any trophy in world football. Now, it remains to be seen whether they can gel together and put in the performances on the pitch.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has one major problem to address this season though and that is surrounding Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan striker arrived at Old Trafford last summer and made a slow start. He managed to find his feet in the second half of the season though and once he got going, he looked like one of the best strikers in world football. But following the arrival of Ronaldo at Old Trafford this summer, there will be major doubts regarding Cavani’s place in the team.

Manchester United have major Cavani worry
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Cavani made 39 appearances for the Red Devils last season across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 6 assists.
Even at the start of the campaign, he was expected to be first-choice striker for the club this season. But it is safe to say that things might very well have changed after the arrival of Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is no longer the tricky winger that he was during his first stint at the Theatre of Dreams. Instead, his game is now based on scoring goals on an incredibly consistent basis. As a result, he would be expected to play as a striker in Solskjaer’s team.
Naturally, that could lead to Cavani sitting on the bench. His performances from last season do suggest though that he is still very capable of starting for a top Premier League side. Thus, Solskjaer must make sure that he finds ways to provide regular minutes to the Uruguayan striker through the course of the season.
