Manchester United have enjoyed a good, if not perfect, start to their 2021/22 Premier League campaign. They have won two out of their three games and drawn the other one thus far, sitting at third in the points table right now.

Collecting seven points from three matches, they will welcome Newcastle United at Old Trafford next Saturday.

The fixture could already be set to see some history being made, as it could possibly mark Cristiano Ronaldo’s first appearance for the club ever since making his return this summer after having left over a decade ago.

And there could be further good news for the Red Devils on the horizon. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Scott McTominay and Alex Telles were present during Monday’s training session. Both have been out of action with respective injuries in recent times and it remains to be seen whether they will be available for the upcoming match.

Manchester United handed McTominay and Telles injury boosts

Having already played a couple of games this season, McTominay underwent groin surgery recently and was out of action for the recent game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

His eventual return would be a massive boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as they appear to be a bit light on options in the middle of the park at this point of time having not signed a midfielder in the summer.

On the other hand, Telles was injured during pre-season and has been out for a while now. While Luke Shaw is very much the Red Devils’ starting left-back at this point of time, Telles is a brilliant player in his own right and it is always great to have competition for spots. Thus, his return would be a welcome boost for the team as well. We would be expected to get an update on the duo’s situation later in the week.
