Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Manchester United. The Portuguese legend completed a stunning return to the Theatre of Dreams this summer. Now, it will be interesting to see how he will perform in the Premier League at 36 years of age and a very different type of player to the tricky winger that had taken English football by storm during his first stint at Old Trafford.

Gareth Bale is one of the players who knows Ronaldo very well, having spent a long time playing with him at Real Madrid. And while the Wales captain’s career at the Santiago Bernabeu might not be as legendary as his former teammate, it is undeniable that he played a massive part in their four Champions League triumphs over the previous decade.

Most people are uncertain how Ronaldo will adjust to the Premier League after being away for over a decade. But there does not appear to be any doubt in Bale’s mind.

As reported by the Mirror, Bale said regarding the move:

"“I’m sure he will do well.“He’s proven it before in the Premier League so he understands the league.“He has done everything there is in football.“His goal-scoring ability is matched by no one else so I’m sure he is going to come in, do well and score a lot of goals.“I’m excited to see it like everyone else, I’m sure.”"

While many might argue that his goal-scoring ability is matched by a certain Lionel Messi, over the past decade-and-a-half, Ronaldo has been one of the top players in world football and is one of the best in the history of the game along with the Argentine. There is no doubt about that.

His move to Old Trafford at this stage of his career is certainly interesting. At 36 years of age, he is no longer in his prime but is still an incredible player. It was just last season that he finished as the top scorer of Serie A and topped the scoring charts at EURO 2020 as well.

In recent years, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani have shown that players can arrive at Old Trafford at late stages of their careers and still score a lot of goals. One would hope that Ronaldo can do the same as well.
