Arsene Wenger reacts to Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo signing
Manchester United were already enjoying a brilliant summer transfer window before they ended up signing Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, it must be said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are one of the top contenders for the Premier League this season.
Last season, the Red Devils finished second in the Premier League and reached the Europa League final, where they lost to Villarreal. But overall, it was a positive campaign which saw them make a lot of progress. And with the additions that they have made this summer, many would expect them to take one step further and end their four season-long trophyless streak.
Of course, there will be some questions asked about the move for Ronaldo. At 36 years of age, he is not a long-term solution for the club.
Arsene Wenger has commented on the move. While speaking with BILD LIVE and as reported by the Daily Star, the legendary Arsenal manager said:
"“This is a love story that you want to see.“[He was signed] for more than just sporting reasons, it’s also emotional. I think the decision is not 100% rational.“Finding a balance in the team is a big challenge. But the players with a lot of experience still score a lot.”"

Wenger has reacted to Manchester United’s decision to sign Ronaldo this summer
Is it the right move? This is something that only time will tell. But it is true that Solskjaer will have to find a way to integrate Ronaldo into this Manchester United side while also progressing as a team.
His last stint at Juventus was not the success that most people would have expected. When he signed for the Italian giants in 2018, many believed that he was the missing piece of the puzzle and would lead them to the UEFA Champions League title. That did not turn out to be the case though. Instead, Juventus appeared to take a step back in Europe and finished fourth in Serie A last season.
On the other hand, Ronaldo remains a brilliant player. He scored over a hundred goals for Juventus over his three seasons there. And it will be important that Solskjaer gets the best out of him.
The Portuguese forward had already solidified himself as a club legend during his first stint at Old Trafford and hopefully, he will continue to build upon that legacy this time around.
