A couple of weeks ago, not many fans would have expected to see Cristiano Ronaldo in a Manchester United shirt ever again. But that’s how quickly things can happen in football and the Portuguese legend is now set to make his second debut for the Red Devils soon.

Ronaldo had been linked with a potential exit from Juventus for the majority of the summer transfer window. But it was starting to look like he would spend another season with the Serie A giants after spending pre-season with them.

Rumours broke out a week or so ago though that a move to Manchester City could be on the cards with Harry Kane set to remain at Tottenham Hotspur until an incredible transfer twist, as Ronaldo completed a stunning return to Old Trafford.

He had already established himself as a club legend during his first stint with the club and will now be looking to build upon that legacy. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, when asked about making the move at this point in his career, Ronaldo said:

"“I think it’s the best decision that I have made it. It’s right on point in my opinion. I moved from Juve now to Manchester, it’s a new chapter, I’m so happy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve great results, to win trophies and number one of them, to win great things.”"

Is Ronaldo a good signing for Manchester United?

There is not much left to say about Ronaldo as a player that has not been said before. He is one of the best in the history of the game.

It will be interesting to see though how he does for the Red Devils at this stage of his career. At the end of the day, he is 36 years of age and not the type of player that he was during his first stint at Old Trafford. Also, there will be questions about how he will adjust to the Premier League after being away for over a decade.

But even at 36, he remains a fantastic goalscorer and topped the Serie A scoring charts last season. And if he can find the back of the net for Manchester United consistently moving forward, then he could help bring an end to the club’s four-season trophyless streak.
