Manchester United were finally successful in their attempt to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.

For the majority of the transfer window, it had seemed that Ronaldo was set to remain at Juventus for another season. But things would pick up pace regarding an exit late in the transfer window and for a while, it had looked like he could be headed to Manchester City.

But ultimately, the Red Devils managed to complete a stunning move for the 36-year-old and bring him back to the Theatre of Dreams, where he had already established himself as a club legend during his first stint.

Naturally, some of his former teammates, who are club legends in their own right, appeared to be delighted with the move. Rio Ferdinand posted on his Instagram:

Patrice Evra posted a throwback picture on his Instagram:

Edwin van der Sar revealed on Instagram how he had always dreamt of the move but never expected that it would actually happen:

And even Roy Keane welcomed back Ronaldo on Instagram with a throwback picture from their time together at the club:

Manchester United might have pulled off a masterstroke with Ronaldo move

After four seasons without a single trophy, Ronaldo would be expected to play a huge part in the club’s quest for silverware this season. And considering the fact that wherever he has been through the course of his career, trophies have followed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be delighted to have him in the squad.

At 36 years of age, it is safe to say that Ronaldo is no longer in his prime. There will be questions about how he would adjust to the Premier League at this stage of his career having left over a decade ago. On top of that, he is also a very different kind of player now than he was in his first stint at Old Trafford.

Overall though, everybody should be delighted with the move. Even last season, Ronaldo was the top scorer in the Serie A. And if he can find his feet at Manchester United once again, then he can be one of the best players in the entire Premier League.
