It is no secret that Usain Bolt is a Manchester United fan. And thus, like most supporters of the club, he must have been delighted to see Cristiano Ronaldo make a return to Old Trafford after having left to join Real Madrid over a decade ago.

The 8-time Olympic gold medallist’s love for football is not unknown and he even played the game for a while after retiring from sprinting. He is also a fan of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Throughout the course of the summer, Ronaldo had been linked with a move away from Juventus but a return to Manchester United did not appear to be on the cards, with the club having signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton. Thus, it was a bit of a surprise when the club ended up making a late move for the Portuguese legend, just when it had looked like he could possibly be headed to Manchester City.

Bolt has posted pictures with Ronaldo on Twitter, welcoming him back to the club:

He posted a couple more throwback photos on his Twitter:

Ronaldo can be a brilliant signing for Manchester United

Now, it is true that Ronaldo is not in his prime anymore. He is 36 years of age and it has been over a decade since he left the Premier League. He is also a very different kind of player these days than he was back then.

As a result, there will certainly be questions regarding how he will adjust to the Premier League at this stage of his career.

But even at 36, he remains a brilliant player. While his time at Juventus might not have been a massive success due to them not winning the UEFA Champions League, he still won five trophies with them in three seasons. And according to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 101 goals and provided 22 assists for the club in 134 appearances.

Thus, it goes without saying that he still knows his way to the back of the net and if he can find his feet at Old Trafford, we might be in for a treat.
