Manchester United have made some incredible additions to their squad this summer and must be considered as one of the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished second in the Premier League last season and reached the final of the Europa League as well. After signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton, fans would be hoping that they can go one step further and end their four-season trophyless streak.

If there is one area of their squad that they could do with more options in, it is central midfield. The Red Devils appear to be a bit light there at the moment.

Throughout the summer, the club have been linked with several central midfielders. One of them is Eduardo Camavinga. But Manchester United have lost the transfer race for the French wonderkid to Real Madrid.

Manchester United have lost Camavinga transfer race to Real Madrid

Fabrizio Romano tweeted out that Rennes have accepted a transfer bid of €31 million plus add ons from Real Madrid for Camavinga.

It is safe to say that Camavinga is one of the most highly-rated young players in world football right now. Despite still being 18 years of age, he has already been a regular for Rennes’ first-team for two seasons and has represented the France national team on a few occasions as well.

Thus, it is safe to say that if Camavinga can continue to develop his game then he has the potential to be one of the best players in the world in the middle of the park in the future.

Thus, it should not come as a surprise that the Red Devils were linked with the youngster as well but it is Real Madrid who appear to have won the race for his signature. On the other hand, with the transfer window set to close soon, it does not feel like Manchester United will make an addition in midfield although as we have already seen, the club can spring a surprise from time to time.
