It’s funny how quickly things can change in football. It was not too long ago that Cristiano Ronaldo was looking set to join Manchester City. And now, Manchester United have already reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer as the Portuguese legend’s Old Trafford return looks to be only a matter of time now.

The club’s fans have been waiting for it to happen for over a decade now though, since he left the Red Devils to join Real Madrid back in 2009 in a then world record move. So for them, it has been a long time coming.

Ronaldo’s arrival at Old Trafford would certainly open up a lot of exciting possibilities. Combining with Bruno Fernandes will certainly be one of them. The Portuguese international teammates are now set to combine at the Theatre of Dreams.

And it looks like the Portuguese playmaker might have played his part in the move taking place. Fernandes tweeted out:

Fernandes and Ronaldo are set to combine at Manchester United

Fernandes and Ronaldo have had a pretty similar journey. Both of them arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon, and both of them have established themselves as absolute superstars of the game during their time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Fernandes has easily been one of the best players in the entire Premier League ever since arriving in January of 2020. And now that he is set to play in the same team with Ronaldo, one would hope that he can take his game to the next level as well.

This is certainly an exciting time to be a Manchester United fan. The club were already enjoying a brilliant summer transfer window having signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton before they even ended up making the move for Ronaldo. Now, they must definitely be considered as one of the favourites for the Premier League title.
