Ian Wright makes exciting claim about Manchester United star
By Ritam Ghosh
Manchester United started the season in brilliant fashion, scoring five past Leeds United in the opening game of their Premier League campaign in front of an Old Trafford crowd.
Besides Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba putting in incredible performances on that day, 19-year-old Mason Greenwood was excellent as well. The youngster restored the Red Devils’ lead in the 52nd minute of the game after Leeds United had drawn level just minutes earlier.
Since then, he has managed to score against Southampton as well in a 1-1 draw away from home for the Red Devils, continuing his good individual form in the process of doing so.
Ian Wright appeared to be very impressed with the youngster after his impressive performance against Leeds United. While speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show and as reported by Sport Bible, when told that only four players (Robbie Fowler, Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Nicolas Anelka) have scored more goals in the Premier League than Greenwood as a teenager, the Arsenal legend said:
"“You look at the other people on that list, they are unbelievable. What they didn’t go through that Mason has is being at Manchester United from a young age, getting through that academy and into the first team.“He’s putting in performances and getting numbers. If that’s a sign of things to come from him, it’s frightening to think what he will end up doing because he’s done a lot already.”"

Greenwood has been excellent for Manchester United till now
In the 2019/20 campaign, Greenwood’s breakthrough season at Old Trafford came as he became a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side forming an impressive trio with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford up front. All three were excellent that season and were a huge reason behind the Red Devils’ impressive campaign.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 19-year-old has already made 107 appearances and scored 31 goals for Manchester United. Incredible stats for a player who is still a teenager.
A talent like Greenwood is rare and he could be an integral part of this team for years to come. He has already shown that he knows his way to the back of the net. And his 2020/21 campaign was perhaps even more impressive in the sense that he was asked to play a very different role, right wing, and he managed to thrive there as well.
