Manchester United have made some solid additions to their squad this summer in the form of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton. But players would be expected to depart Old Trafford as well before the transfer window closes.
At the end of the day, there is incredible depth in this squad at this time. And while that is a massive positive and the Red Devils should be considered as genuine title contenders this time around, it could also lead to some players leaving in search of playing time.
One player whose future remains up in the air at the moment is Phil Jones. He was considered as one of the best young defenders in the world at one point of time and has been at Old Trafford for over a decade now.
But an injury kept him out of action for well over a year, and with the arrival of Varane, he could find himself further down the pecking order at Old Trafford. While there have been suggestions that he is still a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, it looks like the defender is open to all possibilities including departing the club on loan.

Jones could leave Manchester United this summer
As reported Football League World, Jones is considering his future. He is open to the possibility of heading out on loan and weighing up the options he has in the Championship. He is ready to consider offers to move to the Championship on loan.
Jones has been out of action for a long time. And with the likes of Varane, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof at the club already, it feels unlikely that he will get too much playing time this season.
As a result, a loan spell at a Championship club does make sense for Jones. Considering his experience, he would be expected to get a lot of playing time there and hopefully find his rhythm back.
